ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

HILLSBORO

Aug. 9 — Reckless driving was reported in the 500 block of E. D St. Suspicious people were reported at Joel Wiens Stadium. A suspicious vehicle was checked at Tabor College.

Aug. 10 — Recordings made by video cameras in the area were checked in regard to the reckless driving complaint on D. St. A vehicle near Adams and B St. was searched.

Aug. 11 — No arrests were made after a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of S. Wilson St. An odor of natural gas was reported in the 500 block of W. Grand St. A motorist was assisted in the 300 block of N. Ash St.

Thursday — A vehicle left after hitting Steven L. Jurry’s mailbox in the 100 block of S. Ash St. between 4:30 and 7:15 p.m. A parking complaint in the 400 block of S. Lincoln St. was investigated.

Friday — A 15-year-old was ticketed after an accident at Sonic Drive-in. (See separate story.) An abandoned vehicle was reported at the city compost site. A complaint of a criminal threat was made in the 200 block of E. Grand St. Parking complaints were made in the 200 block of W. B St., 300 block of E. B St., and 200 block of S. Adams St.

Saturday — A gas odor was reported in the 100 block of E. Grand St. Police arrested a suspect on an outstanding warrant but no corresponding jailing was found in jail logs. A curfew violation was noted in Memorial Park.

MARION

Aug. 9 — Police helped a resident get a key to work in an apartment door. A disabled vehicle near Industrial St. and US-56 was checked. A report of suspicious activity in the 500 block of S. Freeborn St. was determined to be no problem.

Aug. 10 — Police determined that no crime had occurred at a disturbance in the 300 block of W. Santa Fe St. A person yelling from a porch was advised to go inside. Theft of a package in the 600 block of S. 3rd St. was investigated.

Aug. 11 — Police helped a dog owner get the animal out of the owner’s locked vehicle. A parking issue in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. was investigated as was an apparently unfounded report of suspicious activity in the 1100 block of Maple St. Police also checked on the welfare of a resident of the 800 block of E. Main St. and responded to a false alarm about a holdup or burglary in the 1200 block of E. Main St.

Thursday — Police found no problems after checking on two reports of suspicious activity, one in the 200 block of Elm St., and being called to a disturbance in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. A driver was ticketed for going 48 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Friday — Police found the owner of dogs reported to be running free in the 300 block of S. 3rd St. and noticed a water leak near Hudson and Cedar Sts. A driver was warned for having a faulty headlight.

Saturday – Police dealt with two civil issues including a child custody dispute in the 700 block of Hudson St.

Sunday – A driver was warned for an equipment violation, and two others were cited for going 78 mph in a 65-mph zone.
