Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Jan. 4 — A motorist was warned for speeding at Indigo and 180th Rds.

Jan. 6 — Police provided traffic control for a house that was moved across town. An officer assisted a person who was locked out of his or her room at Country Haven Inn.

Thursday — A complaint was made about several illegally parked vehicles in the 300 block of N. Madison St.

Friday — Police responded to a false alarm at Emprise Bank. An officer assisted with a dispute between a landowner and tenant in the 400 block of S. Main St.

Saturday — Police investigated a delayed criminal complaint, but no report was released by press time. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out on US-56.

Sunday — A motorist was assisted with filling his vehicle with gas in the 500 block of E. D St.

Jan. 4 — Motorists were warned for having a white light to rear near 3rd and Main Sts., and on US-56 for speeding.

Jan. 5 — Morgan M. Wheeler, reported a 2016 Subaru Legacy was damaged by an unknown vehicle during a hit-and-run accident in the 300 block of Elm St. A report was made of a motorcycle at the city’s levee but no motorcycle was found. A motorist was cited for speeding 76 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone on US-56 near Ridge Rd. A 36-year-old Marion man was arrested when methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was found in his vehicle after a traffic stop for having a suspended license in the 200 block of N. Roosevelt. St. Matthew L. Bice was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and for driving while suspended.

Jan. 6 — A dog-owner was contacted after the person’s dog was caught in the 100 block of N. 5th St. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out.

Thursday — A non-injury accident was investigated in the 1200 block of E. Main St.

Friday —Motorists were warned for making an illegal J-turn, and for speeding on US-56 near Eisenhower St. A traffic stop for a suspicious activity near Elm and Main Sts. proved unfounded.

Saturday — Police checked on a person looking around with a flashlight in the 300 block of Santa Fe St., but the person was deemed not to be suspicious. A report was made of suspicious activity in the 300 block of Fink St.

Sunday — Officers were unable to catch a dog running free, and they later spoke to a person about a lost dog. A motorist was warned for speeding on US-56 near Upland Rd.

Peabody

Jan. 4 — A motorist was cited for not wearing eye protection while riding an ATV, not having insurance, and not having a driver’s license in the 300 block of S. Locust St.

Jan. 6 — Police responded to a call about possible drug use by a teenager at Peabody-Buns High School. A drug case is being filed.
