Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Dec. 14 — Police answered questions about a protection from abuse order. Scott A. Hebblethwaite, 62, Hillsboro, reported that someone vandalized his vehicle with spray paint in the 400 block of W. B St. A non-injury accident was investigated at the city’s industrial park. A report was made of a suspicious person near a garbage Dumpster at TC Wireless.

Dec. 15 — A motorist was warned for having equipment dragging on the ground. Rosella M. Epp, 79, Hillsboro, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox in the 100 block of S. Ash St. when she crashed into the rear-end of a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by Joshua L. Friesen, 37, Hillsboro. No injuries were reported. Police responded to a false alarm at Parkside Homes.

Dec. 16 — Police warned a student driver about hazardous driving in snow. A complaint of an animal left the cold in the 100 block of W. 2nd St. proved unfounded.

Thursday — A dog complaint was made in the 600 block of S. Main St. Police answered questions about a protection from abuse order.

Saturday — Police investigated a non-injury accident that happened on private property. A motorist was warned for speeding on US-56.

Sunday — A report of a bicycle being damaged in the 500 block of W. Grand Ave. proved unfounded.

Dec. 14 — Officers assisted several motorists with scraping ice off their windows. A report of a possibly suicidal person proved unfounded. A resident in the 700 block of S. Cedar St. was warned for being too loud.

Dec. 15 — Police responded to false alarms in the 500 block of N. Coble St. and the 300 block of E. Main St.

Dec. 16 — Reports were made of domestic disturbances in the 300 and 100 blocks of N. Roosevelt St., but police decided no action was needed.

Thursday — A 911 disconnect was investigated in the 500 block of S. Cedar St., which led to an ambulance being called for a person who fell. Travis E. Hamm, 42, Marion, reported a domestic dispute in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. Investigation determined that he allegedly had pinched, pulled, and physically abused Krystle D. Strong, 34, Marion, and Hamm was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and battery.

Friday — An abandoned bicycle was recovered by police. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out near Main and Santa Fe Sts. A motorist was cited for speeding 31 miles per hour in a 20 mph zone.

Saturday — A report was made of a dog running free in the 600 block of Sherman St., but the animal was caught before an officer arrived. A motorist was cited for parking illegally in the 300 block of N. Freeborn St.

Sunday — A report was made of motorcycles at the city’s levee, but no motorcycles were found.

Peabody

Thursday — A report was made of a battery incident between two residents at Westview Manor, but the residents were separated and police determined no action was needed. As mental health patients, the residents were not liable for criminal charges in the incident.

Saturday — A report was made of a possible theft at a business, but which business was unknown. A report of a possible vehicle theft proved unfounded.
