Activity reports

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

Oct. 19 — A 911 hang-up was investigated, and turned out to be a phone issue. Police assisted with a foster child issue.

Oct. 20 — Police assisted with a child custody issue. Officers drove a foster child to a juvenile detention center.

Oct. 21 — Police provided assistance at Hillsboro Community Hospital with an upset psychiatric patient. A noise complaint was made in the 100 block of S. Date St. Officers spoke to a person with concerns about a possible stalker. A false alarm at Main St. Ministries proved to be from a CO₂ detector with low batteries.

Thursday — A report of a prowler was investigated in the 300 block of N. Birch St., but no one was found. A parking complaint was made in the 400 block of S. Adams St. An out-of-control juvenile was reported at Main St. Ministries.

Friday — A motorist was warned for speeding on D St. east of city limits. Police helped an elderly person get back to Parkside Homes from Tabor College baseball fields.

Saturday — A complaint was made of a dog running free in the 300 block of N. Washington St. The issue was taken care of by the animal’s owner.

Sunday — A person reported being the victim of domestic violence Sunday in the 200 block of N. Jefferson St. Ignacio Acevedo, 30, Hillsboro, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.

Oct. 19 — A report was made by a person who was concerned that a family member had not returned home. The missing person later returned home.

Oct. 20 — A property owner was warned about yard cleanup.

Oct. 21 — A motorist was stopped for having an unlatched hood. A report was made of theft in the 1200 block of E. Main St. The case is under investigation. A report was made of a dog running free on E. Santa Fe St. A motorist was warned for not using a turn signal in the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. A report was made of suspicious activity in the 200 block of Garfield St. but nothing was found. A motorist was warned for not stopping at a stop sign in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St. A non-injury accident was investigated in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St.

Thursday — Report was made of a possible protection order violation in the 1200 block of Commercial St. A motorist was warned for speeding on Cedar St. near US-56, and for no tag light on US-56 near Cedar St.

Friday — An unsuccessful attempt was made to catch a dog running free on Santa Fe St. Report was made of a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of S. Cedar St., but police determined no crime had occurred. Possible suspicious activity in the 1100 block of Weldon St. ended up being two people walking.

Saturday — A dog owner was called to pick up his or her dog running free in the 300 block of S. Roosevelt St. A motorist was warned for driving the wrong way on a one-way street near 1st and Main Sts.

Sunday — A non-injury accident was investigated after a motorist hit a gas meter in the 100 block of Billings St.

Peabody

Oct. 19 — A property owner was warned for having tree branches blocking a stop sign in the 900 block of N. Maple St. A motorist was cited for speeding on US-50.

Thursday — A report was made of battery, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery on police after officers responded to a vehicle theft in the 500 block of N. Vine St. No arrest has been made, and a case is being filed with the county attorney’s office. A motorist was cited for speeding on US-50.

Saturday — A motorist was cited for speeding on US-50.
