Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies are excluded.

Hillsboro

July 27 — A motorist was warned for driving left of center, and a different motorist was cited for speeding in the 300 block of N. Ash St. A dispute between neighbors was investigated in the 300 block of S. Washington St. Officers investigated a possible violation of an order of protection.

July 28 — Suspicious activity was investigated in the 500 block of W. Grand St.

July 29 — Officers answered questions about state trespassing laws and a lost driver’s license. Children were warned for riding bicycles at night without lights.

Thursday — An abandoned pickup truck was investigated in the 300 block of S. Birch St.

Friday — A vehicle reported stolen in the 400 block of Floral Dr. was recovered in McPherson County. a possible theft was reported at Hillsboro Body Shop. In a separate incident, police recovered in the 300 block of S. Birch St. a pickup truck reported stolen out of Galva.

Saturday — A motorist was warned for missing a registration decal. Police investigated damage to mailboxes in the 300 block of N. Elm St. A motorist was cited for having an illegal tag and having no proof of insurance. Officers mediated an argument between roommates in the 300 block of W. D St.

Sunday — A domestic battery was investigated in the 300 block of W. 3rd St.

July 27 — A counterfeit $100 bill was passed at Carlsons’ Grocery. A person reported suspicious activity. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out near Cedar St. and US-56.

July 28 — A reckless driver reported eastbound on US-56 was not found. A door-to-door salesman reported in the 300 block of Elm St. was not found. A recovered bicycle was returned to its owner. A motorist was warned for having a headlight out near US-56 and Eisenhower Dr. Reports of suspicious activity in the 200 block of Eisenhower Dr. resulted in a person being taken to St. Luke Hospital by ambulance.

July 29 — No action was taken after a report of suspicious activity in the 400 block of S. Roosevelt St. A dog owner was contacted about a dog running free in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St.

Thursday — Police were not able to catch a dog that was running free in the 200 block of N. Lincoln St. A separate dog picked up in the 500 block of Locust St. was taken to Animal Health Center. A disturbance was reported in the 700 block of S. Cedar St., but no action was taken. A possible theft was reported in the 1100 block of E. Main St.; the person involved was warned for trespassing. A found cell phone was turned in to police in the 800 block of Weldon St. A motorist was warned for not having taillights near Main and Freeborn Sts.

Friday — A person was warned for parking a trailer on the street in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. A dog reportedly running free on S. 3rd St. was not found. A commercial alarm was reported at a business in the 1000 block of Industrial Rd., but the business’ door was secure. A domestic battery was reported in the 600 block of Walnut St.

Saturday — A motorist was warned for passing on a solid-yellow line. A person was warned for blowing grass clippings into the road in the 100 block of N. Lincoln St. A vehicle left unattended for more than an hour next to a gas pump at Casey’s General Store was moved before police arrived. No action was taken after a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. Possible damage to property in the 400 block of S. Freeborn St. was attributed to a lawn mower or weather. A person was taken to St. Luke after a welfare check in the 100 block of E. Main St.

Sunday — A dog running free was reported in the 100 block of N. Roosevelt St. A 911 disconnect was investigated in the 300 block of S. 3rd St.

July 27 — Investigation into a sexual assault incident involving a child was opened and remains ongoing.

July 28 — A teenager was taken into protective custody. A person was warned for trespassing at Dollar General.
