Poker tournament raises scholarship money

Poker players remained high and dry in the American Legion Hall as Peabody got drenched under a daylong storm that canceled most other celebration events July 4.

The third Annual Bob Phillips Poker Tournament drew 21 players from Peabody and area towns. The tournament raised $525, which was donated to the Bob Phillips Scholarship Fund at Peabody-Burns High School.

Robin Beuthin of Halstead won a pink T-shirt proclaiming her “The First One Out.”

Scott Weber of Peabody took first, followed by Keith Hess, Bill Smithhart, and Ken Nienstedt all of Marion.
