Two Peabody-Burns High School cross-country runners earned a trip to state with top-10 finishes at the regional meet Saturday in Mound City.
Sheldon Wiebe finished sixth in the boys varsity division with a time of 17 minutes, 36 seconds. Lauren Pickens placed sixth in the girls division with a time of 17:51. Both Wiebe and Pickens will run in the state meet Saturday in Wamego.
Wiebe will run at 11:30 a.m. and Pickens will compete at 12:30 p.m.
Three other runners competed Saturday. Matt Hiebert finished 21st with a time of 18:42. Seth Topham came in 40th with a time of 20:33, and Zach Preheim finished 41st with a time of 20:34. All three had personal best times in the race.
