Peabody stumbles at Berean Academy
The Peabody Warriors went 0-3 at Berean Academy Oct. 9, despite playing multiple close sets.
Their strong suit was the defensive end, both in digging spikes and receiving serves, coach Rachel Winters said.
The Warriors lost a close match to Marion in straight sets, 23-25 and 20-25.
Facing the hosts, Peabody lost the first set 18-25. They narrowly missed winning the second set, going down 23-25, losing in two sets.
Tori Pickens and Adriana Newman excelled in the passing game, Winters said.
The biggest loss came against Remington, where the Warriors scored just 26 points over two sets. Peabody lost the first set 12-25, which they followed with a slightly closer second set, losing 14-25.
The team went 2-1 in the B tournament Saturday, for the bottom four teams in the Heart of America League.
