Members of Peabody Senior Center could use some help with their peppernut project. They make about forty pounds of the fragrant holiday cookie from 12:15 to 2:30 p.m. every Monday and Thursday.
Additional volunteers are always welcome.
The sale of the peppernuts is a major fundraiser for the center. The money is used to pay utility bills during the year.
The final day for making peppernuts will be Nov. 22.
The senior center also could use volunteers to help bag up commodities at 9 a.m. Friday. The commodities will be distributed from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the center.
Candy bar bingo is planned for Nov. 9 immediately following the noon meal. To participate, bring a favorite candy bar to donate for prizes.
November birthdays will be celebrated lunch Nov. 10.
Members encourage people 60 and older to join them for the noon meal. A reservation for a specific meal should be made by at least the evening. The center has an answering machine and anyone wanting to reserve a meal may leave a message.
The charge for meals is $2.75 for folks 60 and older or $4.50 for those younger than 60. For more information, call (620) 983-2226 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
