“We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving, thanking the Lord for your blessings, and being surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones,” said Peabody Senior Center site manager Ruth Lott. “Reach out to someone who might not be as blessed as you.”

Although the Peabody Senior Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, there still are events and activities coming up as November comes to a close.

On Nov. 26, Gayla Ratzlaff with Marion County Department on Aging will be at the center to visit with seniors about the 2013 prescription drug plans. Anyone needing help or an explanation may contact the center to set up an appointment with Ratzlaff.

“Everyone needs to remember to bring a list of all their prescription drugs so that Gayla can find the plan that will meet their needs,” Lott said.

USD 398 Superintendent Ron Traxson will speak at Peabody Senior Center on Nov. 27.

Nancy Phil with Kansas State University Research and Extension will speak to the group on Dec. 5. The topic of her talk will be “Brain Blitz.”

“Her presentations are always informative and entertaining,” Lott said.

December birthdays will be celebrated Dec. 11 and the Annual Light Tour will be the evening of Dec. 12.

“Both events provide fun and fellowship for everyone attending,” Lott said. “The bus takes us all around town to view the Christmas lights and then we return to the center for Christmas cookies and cocoa or coffee. Sonja Koslowsky plays Christmas carols on the piano and everyone enjoys it so.”

The center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All seniors are welcome for lunch and the accompanying programs.
