CORRESPONDENTS:   Peabody Senior Center

Although the Peabody Senior Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, there still are events and activities in the works.

“We will participate in the Community-wide Thanksgiving Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the high school cafeteria,” said Ruth Lott, site manager. “This is the third year for the dinner and everyone in the community is invited. We are lucky to have such an event for the entire community.”

The center will host a Thanksgiving brunch on Nov. 21.

“We hope to give our members a delicious meal before they start doing their holiday baking or head out to spend Thanksgiving with friends or family.

“Kim Nellans will have delicious coffee cake and omelets. Everyone planning to partake of the brunch should be sure to call in a reservation in advance.”

Lott reminds that with the center closed for the holiday, frozen meals will be available by advance reservation.

“We will be delivering them before the holiday, so if anyone wants one or more during the days we are closed for Thanksgiving, they should call right away and let us know how many they need,” she said.

To reserve meals or have them delivered, call (620) 983-2226.

The center will be hosting the Marion County Board Meeting on Nov. 16. Lott encourages seniors to attend the county board meeting.

USD 398 Superintendent Ron Traxson will speak at the center on Nov. 27.

The center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All seniors are welcome for lunch and the accompanying programs.
