Peabody plans giving events

November brings a month of doing good to Peabody.

Giving Tuesdays, coordinated by Peabody schools and Peabody Community Foundation, will conduct events culminating in a Winterfest program Nov. 29 at the high school.

Before then, high school students will collect toilet paper, an essential non-food item needed at the food bank, and build a toilet paper pyramid Tuesday.

The foundation will sponsor a pie auction at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at Peabody Senior Center.

Events Nov. 29 at Peabody-Burns High School will begin with a 5 p.m. soup supper by donation to high school clubs and organizations.

PBHS Voices will perform holiday music while attendees mingle with representatives from local charities. Donations for the charities will be accepted.

The Winterfest program will begin at 7 p.m. and feature the school pep band, a free-throw contest, a video recap of Tuesday activities, introduction of the boys basketball team, entertainment by cheerleaders, and announcements of 2022 teachers’ grants.

Other charitable events also are planned.

Gently used coats, jackets, fleece gloves, and socks for Peabody children can be dropped off or picked up at Wringer coin laundry.

Peabody United Methodist Church is selling raffle tickets for an 80-by-100-inch quilt. Prices are $1 each or six for $5.

ManeStreet Beautique also has a selection of donated jewelry that will be sold by donation to benefit renovation of Sunflower Theater.
