Members of Peabody Girl Scouts and Boy Scout troops collected food items Sept. 24 in Peabody.

A group of about 12 youngsters went house to house gathering bags of boxed and canned goods for the local food bank at Peabody First Christian Church.

The Scouts turned in about 450 items, which will be distributed to local families in need.
