Allegiance Communications began installing high-speed cable Internet access this week in Peabody.
“With broadband Internet through your cable lines, you don’t have to worry about installing unsightly equipment on the outside of your home, and you don’t have to be concerned about foliage issues come spring and summer,” Allegiance Communications Regional Vice President Woody Wood said. “The last thing you want to hear is that you’ve spent a lot of money and gotten into a long-term contract, and have to cut down a tree that’s been there for 100 years.”
The company will celebrate the new service with an event 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Peabody Market. Refreshments will be provided, and new subscribers will be eligible to win prizes, including a laptop computer.
