Peabody faces big schools at Herington invitational

Peabody-Burns track and field participated Thursday in the Herington Invitational.

Cody Partridge placed second in long jump with a jump of 20 feet, 5.25 inches, and third in high jump with a jump of 5-10.

Austin Wedel placed third in shot put with a throw of 45-4.

Austin Reynolds placed seventh in triple jump with a jump of 36-6.5, and ran the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.66 seconds.

Zeke Castleman placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.07.

Elena Miccone ran in the 200 with a time of 44.4, and also participated in long jump with a distance of 12-2.75.

Track coach Kim Topham said that even though some team members placed in Herington, some weren’t as happy with their times.

“It went OK,” Topham said. “I think our kids weren’t as happy with their times and distances as they had been in the past, but it was a good report because we had good schools to compete against. They’re looking forward to this week’s meet.”

Peabody-Burns will participate at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Wheat State League track meet at Goessel High School.

“We’re so few to try to place as a team,” Topham said. “It’s really hard because we don’t have enough numbers, so we’ll be looking for individual places and try to get as many in the top three as we can”
