Peabody Community Foundation issues more grants

Peabody Community Foundation has announced that it was able to fund additional grants in the community recently.

“We did better than we expected at our pancake feed in February,” foundation president Lynn Berns said. “We decided to fund some additional grants during the year with the extra money.”

The recipients were selected from applicants who submitted their requests by the January deadline. Receiving the additional funds are Sorosis Beta Club to purchase and plant a tree at city park, Peabody Historical Society to finish paying for a new stove for the Morgan House, and Peabody Senior Center and Peabody Swim Team to help cover general expenses.

The next event for PCF board of directors and members will be a “meet and greet” on July Fourth at the park.

“We will be giving out bottled water and introducing people to the foundation and its purpose,” Berns said. “We will be at the concession stand, but we also intend to have a mobile unit of some kind and we will visit different events like the car show, the farmer’s market, and the parade.

“We hope to raise awareness about the foundation, encourage donations and participation, and join in the fun at the community’s traditional July Fourth event,” she added.
