Peabody-Burns player sets volleyball record
Last week was a good week for Peabody-Burns volleyball.
On Oct. 15, sophomore Mya Winter broke the school’s single-season service record of 58 aces.
The Warriors followed that performance by going 2-1 Saturday at Solomon.
Peabody-Burns defeated the home team in three sets, going 25-18, 15-25, 25-18.
The Warriors then lost to Centre, but finished strong with a win over Wakefield in straight sets, going 25-21, 25-20.
Following Winter’s Saturday performance, she had 67 service aces for the year.
Peabody-Burns played its final games of the season in Tuesday’s Class 1A regional at Goessel. The Warriors won their first game against Wichita Classical in straight sets, winning 25-14, 25-12.
The team’s luck ran out against Burrton, where Peabody-Burns lost to the eventual runner-up. Peabody-Burns lost 25-19, 25-14 in straight sets.
