Peabody-Burns boys win Herington Invitational

Competing Saturday at the Steve Herrman Invitational track meet at Herington, the Peabody-Burns boys’ team won the team title.

“Despite near freezing wind chills and rain, the guys competed well, and it is a great thing for Peabody-Burns High School to win a larger meet,” Coach Brian Lightner said. “Strong performances in the field events and hurdles provided a majority of the points for the Warriors.”

Seth Topham had two first-place finishes: 110-meter hurdles and the 300 intermediate hurdles. He had a second-place finish in high jump. Lucas Larsen also had two first-place finishes: discus and javelin. Nick Schrock finished first in the 3,200 long distance run.

The 4x800 relay team of Cody Partridge, Michael George, Schrock, and Corbin Rives finished second. Rives finished second in javelin.

The girls’ team finished seventh of nine teams. The top point-maker was the 4x800 relay team of Angelica Winsor, Brandee Burnett, Jenny Kimmeskamp, and Kenzie Young, with a second-place finish.

Two personal records were set:
Angelica Winsor in the 1,600-meter run and Karolina Ganko in long jump.
