Peabody-Burns Junior High musicians performed at Heart of America League Music Festival March 9 at Berean Academy.
The PBJH band played “This is my Father’s World” and “Cumberland Cross.” The band received a I — outstanding — rating from each of the three judges. The band was one of only two bands that received three I ratings.
Students also performed solos and in ensembles. A mixed vocal ensemble composed of Kevin Baatrup, Emma Charles, Tracy Henry, Xavier Jabary, David Loucks, Nicholas Preheim, and Sophia Riggs received a I rating.
The brass ensemble of Saje Bayes, Loucks, Vince Newman, Brandon Woodruff, Henry, and Preheim received a I- rating.
Alyssa Brooks, James Gillet, Christa Elliott, and Charles received a I- rating for their saxophone quartet.
The clarinet ensemble of Mackenzie Young, Lily Harris, Cheyene Shaw, Kendra Harms, Colton Terronez, Katy Benson, Cheyenn West, and Brianna Larsen received a II+ rating.
Bayes, Alyssa Brooks, Brandy Brooks, Selena Flores, Jordan Gibson, Harms, Harris, and Houstin Howell received a II+ rating for their girls vocal ensemble.
