Eight Peabody-Burns High School athletes competed Friday at Kansas Regional Track and Field competition at Central High School in Burden. Of those, five qualified for state competition this weekend in Wichita.
Lauren Pickens finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.60 seconds, first in the 200 at 26.22, and first in the 400, 57.72. Isaac Burnett placed second in discus, throwing 139 feet, .06 inches and third in shot put, launching it 44-.75. Aaron Topham placed third in the 3200 at 10.36.89.
Curtis Frederick took home fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best of 42.31. Josh Klarmann garnished fourth place in the 800 at 2:06.19.
Also participating were Sheldon Wiebe, Paige Lewis, and Chris Loucks.
Wiebe finished sixth in the 1600. Lewis came in 10th in the 300-meter hurdles and Loucks threw the discus far enough for 13th place.
