The Peabody-Burns High School boy’s cross country team and girls’ team member Lauren Pickens will represent PBHS Saturday at the 2A state cross country meet at Wamego.
The team earned a place at state competition with a third-place finish Saturday at the Meade regional.
Pickens earned a spot to compete as an individual with her top-10 finish at regionals.
Pickens medaled in fifth place with a 4k-time of 18 minutes, 3.41 seconds. She will run the Wamego Country Club course at 11:30 a.m.
Aaron Topham and Kendall Wiebe both qualified individually with top-10 finishes.
Topham medaled at sixth with a time of 18:31.20. Wiebe medaled at seventh with a time of 18:43.41.
Topham, Wiebe, and the rest of the boys’ team will race at 12:30 p.m.
Josh Klarmann just missed the top-10 with an 11th-place finish with a time of 19:15.09.
Sheldon Wiebe finished 13th with a time of 19:18.05.
Curtis Frederick was 23rd with a time of 20:22.75, Seth Methvin 37th at 21:52.16, and Chris Schafer finished 40th with a time of 22:09.93.
