PBHS volleyball season ends at sub-state

Round one of sub-state play was the last stop for the 2008 Peabody-Burns High School volleyball team. PBHS lost to Berean Academy Saturday at Sedan in three games 22-25, 25-15, 11-25.

PBHS got off to a good start in game one against Berean with a three-point lead at 5-2, but Berean came back to tie the score at seven.

Berean then took the lead 14-11 and PBHS came back on an ace from Felecia Pohlman to tie the game at 15.

Blocks by Embry Hodges and Danielle Savage, and kills by Julie Wedel and Pohlman, kept PBHS even with Berean at 19.

Berean took three straight points and the Lady Warriors couldn’t close the gap again, losing by three.

A Hodges’ kill made the score even at two, early in the second game.

An ace by Pohlman, a Wedel kill, and blocks by Wedel and Michaela Methvin helped the PBHS team to a two-point edge at 9-7.

Methvin and Savage recorded two more kills each and Bayleigh Clark added an ace to put the Lady Warriors up 22-11.

PBHS coasted to the game two victory, 25-15.

A slow start put the Lady Warriors down 7-1 early in game three.

Aces by Pohlman and Savage put the Lady Warriors within three at 10-7, but mistakes late in the game helped Berean defeat PBHS in game three, 25-11.

Individual stats

Bayleigh Clark - one kill, seven digs, 12 assists, one ace.

Embry Hodges – one kill, one dig, two blocks.

Michaela Methvin – three kills, one block.

Julie Wedel – four kills, one dig, one block.

Felecia Pohlman – one kill, three aces, two assists, five digs.

Danielle Savage – nine kills, one ace, two digs, four blocks .

Kaitlyn Preheim – one ace, four digs.

Alex Holm-McDowell – three digs .
