Berean Academy played host Thursday to the Heart of America League cross country meet at Harvey County East Lake.

Ideal running conditions made for a fast course and many personal best times for the Peabody-Burns High School team.

The team will travel to Meade Saturday for Regional competition.

Lauren Pickens had a strong finish in the girls’ 4k race and medaled at seventh place.

She earned a spot on the all-league cross country team with her top-10 finish in 17 minutes, 50.6 seconds.

Amanda Pickens and Heather Brooks also competed at the meet.

The boys’ team placed third in the overall standings with all of the runners posting personal best times.

Kendall Wiebe led the pack with a fifth-place medal.

He finished the 5k course in 17:21.42.

Aaron Topham medaled in eighth place with a time of 17:43.38.

Wiebe and Topham earned all-league honors with their top-10 finishes.

Josh Klarmann medaled at 11th with a time of 17:52.06 and Sheldon Wiebe medaled at 13th with a time of 17:54.47.

Klarmann and Wiebe earned all-League honorable mention honors for their top-15 finishes.
