PBHS teacher under police investigation

A Peabody-Burns High School teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after Peabody police and sheriff’s deputies conducted an investigation Jan. 31 at the high school.

Officers arrived at the school shortly after 11 a.m. and were there for about an hour, Peabody police chief Bruce Burke said.

Burke declined to provide any information about the reason for the investigation, indicating only that police activities at the school were part of an investigation that has been going on for at least two weeks.

Social studies teacher and coach Chris Young was placed on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation, superintendent Ron Traxson said.

The district received notification Jan. 30 that officers would be investigating at the high school, Traxson said. He deferred questions about the investigation to Burke.

No additional information was available at press time.
