PBHS English class visits Missouri museums

Students in Doris Unruh’s English III class at Peabody-Burns High School traveled to Hannibal, Mo. April 23 and 24, to visit the Mark Twain Cave and Museum. The students had read the novel, Huck Finn, in class.

After obtaining permission from the school board and school officials, students earned money to pay for the trip.

The group also visited the Arabia Steamboat Museum in Kansas City, Mo., the Georg Verity Tugboat Museum in Keokuk, Iowa, and Mark Twain boyhood home and museum in Hannibal.

To complete the Mark Twain study, students will create a PowerPoint presentation for the school board and present it Monday.

Students who attended the trip were James Battle, Traci Goldsberry, Clint Jones, Brent Paquette, Lauren Pickens, Derek Price, Jhon Raskopf, Aaron Walker, and Jason Wingert.
