The 2008 cross country season officially ended Saturday for Peabody-Burns High School at the 2A state meet at Wamego.
Eight PBHS runners competed, and while none of the Warrior harriers finished in the top-20, the boys’ team managed a fifth-place finish.
Kendall Wiebe led the team, finishing in 25th place.
He ran the 5k course in 18 minutes, 41 seconds, and improved his time from last year’s meet by 38 seconds.
Wiebe’s younger brother Sheldon, finished the course in 28th place with a time of 18:45.
He also improved his time by a margin of 50 seconds.
Aaron Topham crossed the finish line in 18:45 and placed 29th.
Josh Klarmann came in 55th with a time of 19:42, while Curtis Frederick was 65th with a time of 20:02.
Chris Schafer was 100th with a time of 22:32, and Seth Methvin was 102nd with a time of 23:23.
Lauren Pickens, the only PBHS female in the 4k race, sustained an injury in the first mile and could not finish the course.
