PBHS boys win by 20

The Peabody-Burns High School boys’ basketball team began 2013 with a victory. The Warriors defeated Flint Hills at Rosalia, 50-30.

The PBHS offense started slow in the first quarter but held a 3-point edge, 10-7, at the buzzer. Christian Gard led with 4 points. Tommy Morris, Braxton Kyle, and Hunter Pickens each added two points.

Five Warriors got on the board in the second quarter, totaling 17 points. Pickens connected for six points. Kyle had five and Gard, Morris and Seth Topham each recorded two. PBHS held Flint Hills to seven points. The Warriors led 27-14 at halftime.

PBHS continued to put up numbers in the third quarter with 14 points in the period. Morris led with six. Topham added four, and Kyle and Austin Savage each had a basket. Flint Hills added 10. PBHS had the 41-24 lead at the end of the period.

The PBHS defense held Flint Hills to six points in the fourth. Warrior offense added nine points. Scorers included Pickens with five, Xavier Jabary and Garret Schroeder with two points each.

Game total points for Peabody-Burns were Pickens with 13, Morris with 10, and Kyle with nine points.

The team played White City on Tuesday and stayed home against Wakefield on Friday.
