The Peabody-Burns High School track team competed Thursday at the Wheat State League track meet at Goessel.
The seven-member boys team placed third in the standings and the four-member girls team placed eighth. Several Warrior runners placed first in their events, including Andrew Sheffler, Sheldon Wiebe, Lucas Larsen, and Lauren Pickens.
“The boys team competed well, scoring in every event that we had someone entered, except for one,” coach Brian Lightner said. “Wiebe and Larsen each had top-three finishes in their events, and Larsen set three personal records for his events for the second straight week.
“The girls team had all four competitors this week going into regional competition. The 4x100 team set a season best time, as did (Paige) Lewis and (Beckah) McCullough in the qualifying heat of the 200-meter dash.”
