Eight Peabody-Burns High School concert band members traveled to Tabor College on March 31 to attend the KSHSAA Regional Solo and Small Ensemble Festival.
“The students performed very well,” band director Steven Glover said. “They all received either a 1 (Outstanding) or a 2 (Excellent) for their efforts.”
Students who earned 1 ratings qualified to participate in the state festival Saturday at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.
Those students are McKenzie Ensminger, alto saxophone; Bethanny Loucks, flute; and MacKenzie Young, flute.
Students who received a 2 rating are Caroline Beal, flute; Emma Charles, baritone saxophone; Tracy Henry, trombone; Nicholas Preheim, baritone; and Cheyenn West, bass clarinet.
“Our student musicians are to be congratulated for doing so well,” Glover said.
