PBES to host county spelling bee

Lexi Schreiber, Madelaine Beal, and Brooklyn Massey will represent Peabody-Burns Elementary School in the 2013 Marion County Spelling Bee after being the top three finishers in the school bee Jan. 23.

Lexi correctly spelled “detail” to take first place. Ty and Teri Schreiber of Peabody are her parents.

John and Heidi Beal of Burns are the parents of Madelaine, who placed second, and John Massey and April Talkington of Burns are the parents of Brooklyn, who placed third.

Several students who qualified for the school bee were ill, but there were still 18 fourth- and fifth-graders in the contest.

The Marion County Spelling Bee will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 6 in the multipurpose room at PBES. The bee is open to the public.
