E. Pauline Monnich, 80, died Saturday at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

Born Oct. 14, 1935, in New Hampton, Iowa, to E. Paul and Verna E. (Lange) Schott, she graduated from St. John’s College, Winfield, and moved to Herington in 1955 to teach primary grades at Our Redeemer Lutheran School.

She and Werner Monnich of Herington married March 31, 1957, in La Junta, Colorado. They lived near Ramona, later moved to a farm near Herington, and in 1991 moved to Latimer.

He survives, as do daughters Marcia Bartlett and Wanda Platz, son Richard Monnich, four grandsons, and two great-grandsons.

Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Latimer. Pastor John Albrecht will officiate, and pastor Clark Davis will be host. Burial will follow in Latimer Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with St. John’s Cemetery, Parkside Homes, and Harry Hynes Hospice.
