Paul Magathan

A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Irving Magathan, 96, of Clements, who died Monday, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Recitation of the Rosary will precede the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial following the Mass will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls.

Magathan was born July 17, 1921, to Emmett and Frances (Rippert) Magathan in rural Lyon County. He attended Badger Creek country school, Sacred Heart Grade School, and Emporia High School, graduating with the class of 1939. The same year he moved with his family to rural Clements in Chase County, where he resided thereafter on the same land until his death.

A memorial has been established for St. Anthony Catholic Church of Strong City.
