Partridge takes 1st in long jump

Peabody-Burns senior Cody Partridge brought home two medals at Saturday’s state track meet, including first place in long jump and fifth in high jump.

Partridge’s distance in long jump was 21.4 ½ inches.

“That was pretty amazing,” track coach Kim Topham said. “He was happy with that.”

Partridge plans to run track at Pratt Community College next year.

Juniors Austin Reynolds and Andrew Wedel also participated, placing 15th in 110 meter hurdles and 12th in shot put.

“It was a good experience for them to get to state,” Topham said. “Next year they’ll be back and will be working to improve what they’ve already done.”

Topham said the overall experience the track team had this season was one to be proud of.

“It’s been a good year when you can coach only a few athletes and have three of them make it to state in their events,” Topham said. “That’s pretty good.”
