Pancake Day serves up new twist

Grant awards preceded by flapjack race

People have always managed to get their fill of pancakes and sausage at Peabody Community Foundation’s Pancake Day, but this year they’ll have a chance to run off some of those calories with a new wrinkle: a pancake race.

Hotcakes fresh off the griddle and local sausage will be served starting at 7 a.m. Saturday at Peabody Senior Center. Donations to support the foundation will be accepted.

Early eaters may want to come back with skillet in hand at 10:30 a.m. to get in on the all-new Flippin’ Pancake Race. Kindergartners through adults are eligible, and participants should bring their own skillets. Minors will need a signed release form. There is no entry fee.

Grant awards selected from among 14 applicants will be announced at 11 a.m. Representatives from each applicant are encouraged to attend.

PCF, a Central Kansas Community Foundation affiliate, granted $10,864 to 10 Peabody area charities or projects in 2017.
