Open house will honor Kyle’s 90th birthday

Longtime Milton and Burns community news correspondent Joyce Kyle of Burns will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 18 at Burns Community Center.

Wayne and Deby Kyle of Hamilton, Texas, will serve as hosts.

“We wanted to do something that was a surprise, but how do you surprise her in that small community where she knows everybody?” Wayne Kyle said.

Kyle retired earlier this year as Burns correspondent for the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin, but remains active in the community.

“She’s accomplished a lot and stays so busy,” Wayne said. “It’s almost like we have to set up an appointment to talk with her.”

The Kyles request no gifts, and cards will be available for attendees to sign.

“Just come and greet her and tell her happy birthday,” Wayne said. “It’ll be a fun time.”
