REPORTED

These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Aggravated assault, aggravated battery

After his release from a hospital, Gary L. Steele, 68, Lincolnville, was jailed Friday on suspicion of aggravated battery and aggravated assault involving an incident, reported in a news story last week, involving his former wife.

Steele was released on a $15,000 bond less than two hours after his jailing.

According to an offense report released Thursday, Steele is accused of using a black Röhm Gesellschaft .22-caliber revolver, later seized by sheriff’s deputies, to strike and threaten Kelly A. Tiede, 58, Herington, during an argument at 10:25 p.m. July 14 at his home in the 300 block of Lombard St. in Lincolnville.

Tiede sustained no apparent injuries, according to deputy Matt Regier’s report.

According to monitored transmissions, Steele was found by deputies hanging in his residence’s garage after the incident. He was rushed to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, and transferred by helicopter ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

HILLSBORO

Criminal damage

In what police think may be related to a series of BB gun vandalisms reported last week, a barn light valued at $50 was reported broken between 10 a.m. July 5 and 8:45 a.m. July 10 at Hillsboro Housing Authority’s Grand Oaks Apartments, 506 W. Grand Ave.
