These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Drunken driving, open container

A half-empty can of Busch Light and a 24-pack of Coors Light with three empties in it were seized during a traffic stop at 12:16 a.m. May 1 at US-56 and Limestone Rd.

Driver Corey N. Seacat, 29, Marion, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and of transporting an open container of alcohol.

He was released four hours after being stopped after he posted a $2,500 surety bond.

Battery

An acquaintance allegedly dragged a Burns city employee off a riding mower during a disagreement at 9:16 a.m. May 10 in the 100 block of Ohio St. in Burns.

The name of the worker, Sean M. Blansett — even the fact that he was a city worker — was redacted from a official public record of the offense before it was released.

The report states only that a battery involving physical contact in a rude, insulting, or angry manner allegedly occurred near a park building or shelter.

According to interviews and monitored police transmissions, a suspect was identified at the time but left the county and could not be found.

Five days later, William P. Castleberry, 44, of Burns was jailed on suspicion of battery. He was released less than an hour later after posting a $500 surety bond.

HILLSBORO

Domestic battery

A 52-year-old woman’s daughter reportedly struck her in the back and threatened to throw her cell phone during a domestic disturbance at 6:48 p.m. May 9 in the 100 block of S. Birch St.

A heavily redacted offense report filed by officer Peyton Heidebrecht blanks out nearly all information about the alleged crime, including the nature of any injuries.

There was no indication of anyone being arrested in connection with the case.

Drug possession, driving with a suspended license

A drug dog indicated the odor of an illicit substance after a traffic stop on suspicion of having a suspended license early Friday.

Molly B. Schofield, 36, Hillsboro, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an undisclosed quantity of methamphetamine, diving without a valid license or without insurance, and more than one driving while her license was canceled, suspended, or revoked.

MARION

Domestic battery

An 18-year-old girl was slapped on the back but suffered no apparent injury during a domestic disturbance at 10:55 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Grant St., according to an offense report released Monday.

Officer Zach Hudlin arrested the girl’s father, James Caulk, 55. He was released the next morning after posting a $2,500 surety bond.

The offense report states that the girl’s assailant was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time. Monitored transmission indicate, the victim warned police that her assailant might become physical and that there might be a firearm in the house. As a result, deputy Kaylan Miles backed up Hudlin in arriving at the residence.

Transmissions indicate, without explanation, that Hudlin asked Miles to photograph “a wet spot in the kitchen” after taking Caulk into custody.

The property is listed on appraisal records as a rental home owned by Theron D. Nienstedt of rural Marion.
