These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Distribution of meth; possession of meth, marijuana, THC, and paraphernalia; aggravated child endangerment

Five grams of solid methamphetamine, a gram of marijuana, a gram of THC wax (the concentrated active ingredient in marijuana), and eight pieces of paraphernalia, including a grinder, pipes, and a bong, reportedly were seized in a traffic stop at 1:04 a.m. April 24 on US-77 at 140th Rd.

The meth would be enough for up to 50 doses of the drug, the marijuana would make about three “joints,” and the wax could provide as many as 10 doses, according to federal drug resources.

Early reports, published last week, from the sheriff’s office indicated that 61 grams of marijuana were seized, but an offense report released Friday put the total at just one gram.

As reported last week, a 17-year-old Wichita girl who was riding in the vehicle was returned to her father, who had no idea where she had been, and Ephraim Palacio, 28, who has addresses in both Wichita and Pantego, Texas, was booked into Marion County Jail. He was released 10 hours later after posting a $10,000 surety bond.

Vehicle theft

A 2018 Ram 1500 pickup valued at $20,000 was reported stolen April 25 from a Diamond Vista wind farm operations and maintenance building at 340th and Jade Rds.

Owner Harvest Energy Service of Broomfield, Colorado, reported that the truck was taken between Oct. 5 and April 20.

HILLSBORO

Driving with suspended license, without insurance or required interlock; displaying illegal license plate; excessive window tint

Dustin Rodgers, 46, of Hillsboro was arrested and taken to Marion County Jail after he was stopped at 7:40 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of S. Washington St.

Rodgers was jailed on suspicion of driving while his license was suspended, having no insurance, displaying an illegal license plate, failing to use a required anti-drinking ignition interlock, and having illegally tinted windows.

He was released six hours later after posting a $2,000 surety bond.

MARION

Possession of drugs and paraphernalia, interference with law enforcement, fleeing police, speeding, invalid license

A pipe with crystal residue inside was reported seized after a 50 mph police chase at 11:10 p.m. Friday down a residential street in Marion.

Officer Aaron Slater attempted to stop a vehicle at Main and Walnut Sts., but the vehicle turned north on Walnut and reached speed in excess of 50 mph before stopping in the 500 block, where the vehicle’s occupant fled on foot, police chief Clinton Jeffrey said Monday.

Dustin J. Luchi, 42, who resides at another person’s house in that block, was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, interfering with law enforcement, driving while his license was suspended, and violating probation in Sedgwick County.

He was released 21 hours later on $20,000 surety bond.
