These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Criminal damage

Kevin Geren of Marion reported that $2,000 damage was done between 1 a.m. March 24 and 12:30 p.m. March 25 to a van he had left stuck in mud along Chisholm Trail Rd. north of US-56/K-15.

All seven windows, headlights, and taillights were reportedly broken, and four tires were reportedly cut. The van eventually was towed.

Two criminal cases against Geren are pending in Marion County.

He is accused of possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia March 22, 2021, and of two counts of conspiring to distribute drugs along with possessing marijuana and transporting an open container of alcohol Dec. 18, 2019.

A charge of driving while his license was suspended Nov. 13, 2019, also is pending.

HILLSBORO

Identity theft

Valerie D. Hampton, 66, of Oakwood Manor Apartments told police Thursday that she had been notified someone had attempted to use her Social Security number to file an income tax return and to open a bank account.

According to an offense report, the identity theft occurred between Dec. 1 and Feb. 28.

Theft

Rebecca C. Ryding, 43, who resides in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St., told police that a cellular phone valued at $600 was lost or stolen while her child had the phone between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Hillsboro’s Memorial Park.
