REPORTED

These offense reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Burglary, criminal damage

A Smith and Wesson AR15 assault rifle with scope, a Springfield XD9 9mm service handgun, and a Winchester 30-30 lever-action rifle, together valued at $2,000, were reported stolen Feb. 19 by a burglar who smashed a window of a vehicle parked in a field near 280th and Falcon Rd.

An offense report filed in the case describes the location as being near Goessel. However, it would appear from the address and from monitored police transmissions to have been in rural Lehigh, near where owner Seth A. Bartel resides.

According to transmissions, Bartel told dispatchers that the vehicle, which bore an expired license plate, had been left in the field the day before because it had a flat tire.

An offense report does not explain how the burglary’s 30-minute timeframe, from 4:05 to 4:45 p.m., was determined. It appears to juxtaposition, listing not the times of the crime but rather the times when dispatchers were notified and a sheriff’s deputy arrived. Radio transmissions indicate that the owner arrived 35 minutes after that.

Serial numbers of the assault rifle and the service handgun were included in the offense report.

HILLSBORO

Possessing and distributing drugs, possessing marijuana and drug- manufacturing paraphernalia, illegal weapon possession by a felon, driving with a suspended license

Ardell P. Jones, 47, Hillsboro, was arrested on drug and weapon charges after a traffic stop at 12:33 a.m. Sunday at Jefferson and D Sts.

Officer John Huebert stopped Jones, whom he had recognized as having a suspended license.

A positive indication by Marion’s drug-sniffing police dog, Blue, led to a vehicle search that reportedly uncovered an ounce of methamphetamine, 0.9 of a gram of heroin, 4 grams of marijuana, an oil burner regarded as drug manufacturing paraphernalia, and a Ruger LCP .380 semi-automatic pistol.
