SHERIFF

Theft

More than 30 garage items valued at $6,610 total were reported stolen between 10 a.m. July 9 and 10 a.m. July 12 from Hayes Auto Service and Salvage, east of Florence on US-50.

Deputy Kaylan Miles’ report does not indicate whether there were signs of forced entry.

Owner Joel R. Hayes, 79, listed the stolen items as a generator, a weed trimmer, three grinders, two battery chargers, a vehicle jumper box, a battery tester, 20 car batteries, a semitrailer truck battery, a floor jack, a chop saw, and a chain saw.

Burglary

Ten hand tools, a push mower, three video games, miscellaneous clothing, and an unspecified set of collectibles, together valued at $800, were reported stolen between 10:30 p.m. July 4 and 9 p.m. July 7 from a home in the 800 block of N. Main St. in Florence.

Signs of forced entry were found at the residence of owner Sabrina N. Jones, 22.

HILLSBORO

Possession of drugs, marijuana, and paraphernalia

A search performed after a police dog reportedly indicated the presence of drugs during a traffic stop of an uncooperative motorist at 1:05 a.m. July 16 in the 900 block of E. D St. resulted in the arrest of Bruce W. Richardson Jr., 46, of Galva.

Officer John Huebert’s report indicates that trace amounts of marijuana, methamphetamine, and tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, were discovered along with a digital scale, glass vial, plastic bag, vape pen, and cartridges.

Richardson was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs, marijuana, and paraphernalia; operating a vehicle without registration and liability insurance; driving with a suspended license; and interfering with law enforcement by attempting to conceal or destroy evidence.

Burglary

Morgan C. Miller, 18, reported that a burglar broke into her apartment in the 300 block of N. Ash St. between 3 p.m. July 14 and 4 a.m. July 15 and stole an Xbox gaming system valued at $674.

MARION

Possession of marijuana and paraphernalia

During a traffic stop at 11:27 p.m. Friday, Marion police reportedly noticed the odor of raw marijuana; discovered an ounce of marijuana, a pipe, and a grinder; and arrested Jenaro Guerreo-Pizano, 31, McPherson.
