Theft of property

Eight Charlois cattle belonging to Michael Combs, 66, Lincolnville, were stolen from a field on Vista Rd. between 270th and 280th Rds. on March 11 or 12. Sheriff’s deputy Mike Ottensmeier estimated the value of the loss as $14,880.

Criminal damage to property

Douglas Helmer of Hillsboro reported that someone used a sharp object to scratch the paint on the front and both sides of his 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer between 8:30 a.m. and noon on March 10 while his vehicle was parked in the Salem Home parking lot at 405 S. Ash St. Police said there is no estimated loss currently. However, a person of interest has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
