Newspaper adds 2 to team

Two new employees with similar first names joined the Marion County Record, Hillsboro Star-Journal, and Peabody Gazette-Bulletin team on Monday.
Oliver Good will be a familiar face to many in Marion. He graduated from Marion High School in 2000 and received a bachelor’s degree in English with a focus on creative writing from Kansas State University in 2005. He just finished a year studying graphic design at the University of Kansas.
Good will work mostly in advertising, although he may contribute occasional news coverage. He is excited to be going into the community to work with people.
Good moved back to Marion to be close to family again. He is musically inclined and in the past has played at Chingawassa Days as part of a band, Vegetable.
“I’m a big music aficionado,” he said. “I love to play music and discover new music I haven’t heard.”
He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Marina, 12-year-old stepdaughter, Louisa, and 15-month-old son, Owen.
Reporter Olivia Haselwood is a 2008 graduate of Augusta High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in communications with a focus on print journalism in May from Wichita State University, where she studied under noted professor and editor Les Anderson before his death in 2011.
She is excited to start meeting new people and writing about them.
“I’m quirky and bad with directions,” she said.
The second half of her self-description proved true in her first day on the job when she got stuck on a mud road on her way to get a picture of hollyhocks.
Haselwood enjoys reading, horseback riding, and home improvement. She is a newlywed; she married her husband, Winslow, on June 1. They live in Towanda but hope to move if they can sell their house.
Winslow, who recently received his MBA, works in investments in Wichita.
Olivia replaces Rachel Hunter, who had to return to her family home in New York state for health reasons. Oliver fills a new position on the staff.
