Peabody Police Chief Bruce Burke has announced a new officer has joined Peabody Police Department. Brad Cady of Marion was hired by Burke and confirmed by the city council March 30.
Cady plans to move to Peabody as soon as he arranges for housing.
Burke also asked that Peabody citizens be reminded again that a new alternate vehicle ordinance has not yet been approved and put in place by city council members.
“The use of all forms of alternative transportation is on- hold until the ordinance is finalized,” he said. “Everything from skateboards to ATVs and golf carts still fall under the former regulations and cannot be driven on city streets. When the council approves the ordinance and the city attorney, prosecutor, and judge have approved it, we will let the public know.”
Burke said he does not have a timeline for finalizing the alternative transportation ordinance.
The only infraction taken care of by police during the past week was a juvenile cited for reckless driving.
