Myrtle Harrietta (Theander) Venso

Myrtle Harrietta (Theander) Venso entered eternal rest on Sept. 22, 2014, at her home in Asbury Park in Newton.

Myrtle was born on July 5, 1914, to Carl and Emma (Gutsch) Theander in Lincolnville, Kansas. The family moved and lived in Ashland and Marion County for many years.

On March 29, 1936, she married Neil Venso in Newton, where they lived and raised their family. Myrtle worked for the Spangler Care Home, Bethel Deaconess Care Home and Friendly Acres.

She was a faithful member of the Church of God, E.U.B., and Salem United Methodist Church. She was involved with the Women’s Circle, Brother of Railway Clerks Auxiliary and a volunteer for the Red Cross.

On July 5, 2014, she became a centurion and celebrated her 100th birthday with her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Virginia Soyez and spouse, Joe, and Marjorie Keasling and spouse, Donald; son Wayne Venso and spouse, Brenda; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Venso; parents, Carl and Emma Theander; and two brothers.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial has been set up for the Good Shepherd Hospice of Kansas.Everyone that knew Myrtle would agree that “she was not stubborn, but very strong willed!” She was loved and will be missed by many.
