Myles Zeller

Myles Roger Zeller passed away Aug. 27, 2018, after an almost two-year courageous battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 8, 1965, in Council Bluffs, Iowa; he moved to Marion when he was 7. He went by Roger or Rog.

He graduated from Marion High School in 1984 and joined the Navy. He enjoyed the Navy with the travel opportunities it gave him and enjoyed becoming a scuba diver. He was part of the Navy support fleet serving on the USS Acadia during the 1990-91 Gulf War. He decided nine years was enough in the Navy and went to work in the field of non-destructive testing. He worked in that until an auto accident in July of 2012 left him disabled and unable to work.

He was married to Amy (Janzen) Zeller in 1990 and later divorced.

He married Kim (Flaming) Zeller in 1994 gaining 2 stepsons, Austin and Justin Hamm, and a son, Eric Zeller. They later divorced.

Roger enjoyed spending time with the boys and all their sporting events. He seldom missed a game unless he was traveling for work. They lived in Hillsboro, Springhill, and Gardner raising the boys and working.

Roger always had a smile and great sense of humor that was infectious and would make a friend no matter where he was. He worked hard and played hard as he enjoyed life.

Survivors include sons Eric Zeller of Hillsboro, Austin Hamm of Spring Hill, Kansas, currently in National Guard and deployed, and Justin Hamm of Eudora, Kansas; mother Sherrill Echtenacher of Marion; father Ralph Zeller of Florence; brothers Scott Inman of Summerfield, North Carolina, Ed Zeller and wife Delaine of Lawrence, Kansas, and David Zeller and wife Stephanie of Hillsboro; sister Ramona Richmond and husband Randy of Salina, Kansas; and seven nephews and 2 nieces.

There will be a celebration of life for Roger at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at Marion Lake Hall.

Memorial contributions can be made to the VA, Harry Hynes Hospice at Via Christi St. Francis, or the American Cancer Society.
