Ten Peabody-Burns High School musicians participated in the KSHSAA Regional Solo and Small Ensemble Festival Saturday at Tabor College in Hillsboro.
“Our students all performed very well and did a great job of representing our school and communities,” said instrumental music director Steven Glover.
Those receiving a 1 rating were:
Taylor Ensminger, french horn solo; Joshua Klarmann, trombone solo; Bethanny Loucks, flute solo; Chris Loucks, clarinet solo; and Julie Wedel, flute solo.
Those receiving a 2 rating were:
Jenipher Huls, flute solo; Nick Morgan, snare drum solo; Derek Schmidt, bass clarinet solo; clarinet trio (Chris Loucks, Traylee Woodruff, and Derek Schmidt); and flute trio (Julie Wedel, Kaitlyn Preheim, and Bethanny Loucks).
A 1 rating was considered “outstanding” and a 2 equates to “excellent.”
Five soloists who received 1 ratings qualified for the State Solo and Small Ensemble Festival April 25.
