Peabody Police Chief Bruce Burke has issued a reminder to parents who transport children on motorcycles.
“With the weather warming up, more people are taking their young children for motorcycle rides,” Burke said. “But parents need to be aware that if they are transporting a child under the age of 18 on city streets, the child must be wearing a helmet and eye protection.
“Also, anyone operating an ATV must have proof of insurance on board,” he said.
Peabody City Council approved an ordinance two years ago to allow citizens to use alternative transportation to get around the community. However, operators must obey the rules of the road and comply with regulations that apply to the type of alternative transportation they use.
