A trio of annual events that include chili, cars, and corn hole pitching will occur Oct. 3 at Marion County Park and Lake.

In its ninth year, the Marion County Lake Chili Cook-off will ladle up bowls from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Contestants must register at the lake office and pay a $15 fee to enter their chili in the contest. Trophies and prize money will be awarded to the top three places. First place will receive $100, second $75, and third $35.

Those who just want to taste chili can purchase tasting kits for $5 at the event, which also entitles them to vote for their favorite.

In its second year, the annual open class car show is free to enter and to peruse.

Motorists with antique cars, classic cars, racecars, and rat rods are encouraged to bring their vehicles. Motorcycles and trucks of similar types also are welcome.

Check-in starts at 10 a.m. at the corner of Fisherman Ln. and Office Dr.

The sixth annual doubles corn hole beanbag-pitching tournament will start shortly after the chili awards ceremony.

Contestants can register during the chili cook-off. There is a $5 entry fee.

Teams will compete in bracket play. First place gets to choose one of two yet-to-be determined prizes, and second place gets the other prize.
