BURNS SENIORS:   Missionary couple tells of work in the Ukraine

Burns correspondent

The Burns Senior Citizens and friends met Sept. 10 for their monthly potluck luncheon, with 24 enjoying the dinner and fellowship. Doni Rogers gave the blessing and the group repeated the flag salute.

After dinner, Doni Rogers introduced Darwin and Annie Schmidt and Peyton. They told about their three years as missionaries in the Ukraine.

They lived in Irano-Frankivsk, where they worked with hospitals and clinics and helped get supplies. The majority of the families were small with only one child.

They showed some lovely souvenirs from that country. They concluded the program singing a Ukrainian song.

James Olberding called the business meeting to order. The minutes and treasurer’s report from the past meeting were read and approved. There were no birthdays or anniversaries to share and no announcements. The meeting was adjourned.
